The final dialogue of 1939’s Gone with the Wind is widely considered to be one of the most iconic movie scenes of all time. The heart-wrenching moment when Rhett Butler, played by Clark Gable, turns to Scarlett O’Hara, played by Vivien Leigh, and delivers his famous parting line is what comes to mind for many when the Best Picture winner is mentioned. W Magazine recently enlisted 29 awards-season contenders to re-create the memorable exchange, but with a twist: the parts were gender-swapped. Actors such as Bryan Cranston, Eddie Redmayne, Bradley Cooper and Samuel L. Jackson delivered their best, “If you go, where shall I go? What shall I do?,” while actresses including Amy Schumer, Cate Blanchett, Kristen Wiig and Brie Larson followed up with the renowned rebuttal, “Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.”
