This Could Be the ‘Warmest Christmas Week in Living Memory’

1 minute read

Hope you didn’t want to build a snowman.

Those living in the eastern and central U.S. could experience “one of the warmest Christmas days of your lifetime” with record-breaking high temperatures in several areas in the southeast, the Weather Channel reported Sunday.

The mercury could hit close to 70 degrees on Christmas Eve in New York City, while parts of the Southeast will see digits in the lower 80s — and areas from Maine to the mid-Atlantic get temperatures between 50 and 70 degrees, according to AccuWeather.

The season’s unusually warm temperatures also mean this week could be the “warmest Christmas week in living memory,” the Weather Channel said.

But residents in the Pacific Northwest and northern California can still dream of a white Christmas. Heavy rainfall, strong winds and significant mountain snowfall are expected to hit the area for the first part of the week, according to the National Weather Service.
