Watch The Teaser Trailer For Disney’s The Big Friendly Giant

The Big Friendly Giant is coming to the big screen – and here’s your first peek.

Disney revealed the first teaser for Steven Spielberg‘s The BFG Wednesday, and now the anticipation for the film is, well, big.

The BFG, originally written by Roald Dahl, tells the story of a young orphan girl (Ruby Barnhill) and the Giant (Mark Rylance) who introduces her to a world full of adventure, magic and thrill.

“I think it was kind of genius of Roald Dahl to be able to empower the children,” said Spielberg, per multiple outlets. “It was very, very, very brave of him to introduce that combination of darkness and light which was so much Disney’s original signature in a lot of earlier works like Dumbo, Fantasia, Snow White, and Cinderella, and being able to do scary, but also be redemptive at the same time and teach a lesson, and enduring lesson, to everyone. It was a wonderful thing for Dahl to have done and it was one of the things that attracted me to want to direct this Dahl book.”

This will be the first time three of the world’s most renowned storytellers – Steven Spielberg, Roald Dahl, and Walt Disney – have joined forces to bring The BFG to life.

“It’s story about friendship, it’s story about loyalty and protecting your friends and it’s a story that shows that even a little girl can help a big giant solve his biggest problems,” Spielberg reportedly said.

The BFG will hit theaters July 1, 2016 – just two months shy of what would have been Dahl’s 100th birthday.
