Watch Students Chat Live With NASA Astronauts in Space

1 minute read

“TIME For Kids, this is Houston. Please call Mission Control for a voice check.”

On November 19, those words set up an out-of-this-world video chat for 65 students from New York’s East Side Middle School with NASA astronauts Scott Kelly and Kjell Lindgren. Kelly and Lindgren are orbiting Earth onboard the International Space Station (ISS). The students were visiting TFK’s New York City headquarters.

The kids asked the explorers a variety of questions— everything from who cleans up the ISS to what it’s like to drink recycled urine. Lindgren has been on the ISS since July. He is scheduled to return to Earth this month. Kelly’s year-long mission will end in March.
