The lead singer of Eagles of Death Metal told Vice in an interview released Wednesday that, despite the deadly attacks that targeted their concert in Paris on Nov. 13, he “cannot wait” to return to the city to play more shows.
“I want to be the first person to play in the Bataclan when it opens up,” singer Jesse Hughes said in the interview.
The band was performing for a large audience at the Bataclan theater in Paris on Nov. 13 when three gunmen stormed the building, killing 89 people.
The band escaped the carnage, but three employees from their record label, as well as their merchandize manager, were killed.
Now, the group vows they won’t be intimidated by the attacks and will continue to tour.
“Our friends went there to see rock and roll and died. I want to go back there and live,” Hughes said.
