Zuckerberg’s wife Priscilla Chan is pregnant with the couple’s first child, and her due date has not been revealed. But if the toys posted on Zuckerberg’s Facebook page is [any indication](https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10102486605494451&set=a.529237706231.2034669.4&type=3&theater), the baby could be arriving sometime soon. “We’ve also been thinking about how we’re going to take time off during the first months of her life,” he wrote in a post accompanying some photos of baby gear. “This is a very personal decision, and I’ve decided to take 2 months of paternity leave when our daughter arrives.” “Studies show that when working parents take time to be with their newborns, outcomes are better for the children and families,” he wrote. Facebook offers U.S. employees up to 4 months of paid maternity or paternity leave which they can take throughout the year. Zuckerberg did not mention whether he plans to take his remaining two months at a later date. Zuckerberg and Chan announced on Facebook in late July that they were expecting. ## Transcript Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced he will take two months of paternity leave after the birth of his daughter. He and his wife, Priscilla Chan announced this summer they were expecting a baby girl. Zuckerberg made the announcement about his leave on Facebook saying, studies show that when working parents take Take time to be with their newborns, outcomes are better for the children and families. Facebook offers employees up to four months of paid family leave which they can use throughout the year. Parental leave has been something of a discussion point among big tech company lately. Microsoft raised their amount of leave to 12 weeks for any parent and 20 weeks For birth mothers. Adobe raised it to six months, and Netflix is offering unlimited leave for the first year of a child's life. Most of these companies say the move is about employee retention. Adobe said in a statement, our employees are our intellectual property and our future. The investment is unquestionably worth it. However Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer seems to be ignoring this trend.
