Adele played her highly anticipated show at New York’s Radio City Music Hall Tuesday night, where she offered a moving tribute to Paris in the wake of last week’s terrorist attacks.

During her performance of her hit “Hometown Glory,” the screen behind her flashed with images of the Eiffel Tower and the Paris skyline. The crowd cheered before falling back into appreciative silence. Later in the song, the entire stage was bathed in the colors of the French flag:

As Mashable points out, the song’s lyrics took on special meaning in the wake of the attacks: “Shows that we ain’t gonna take it. Shows that we ain’t gonna stand s–t. Shows that we are united.”
