London’s Capital Children’s Choir is cooler than you. Not only did the band of young, talented upstarts score a viral hit back in 2013 by covering Crystal Castles’ “Untrust Us,” but they got to sing with Lily Allen, too.
Rather than becoming victims of the sophomore slump (even though many of the choirs’ members aren’t even in high school yet) the Capital Choir is repeating their viral feat with their take on The Strokes’ “Chances.” That’s right, these kids are too cool to cover the band’s hits or even the singles and instead went for a deep cut off of the band’s 2013 album, Comedown Machine. Not only do they cover the track, but they do an incredibly beautiful version of it proving that you can never be too cool for a good melody.
While Staten Island’s PS22 Chorus has cornered the cool cover song market for years now, as millennials age and their children hit the elementary school circuit, expect the phenomenon to continue.
