It’s every rowdy child’s dream come true: breaking the speed limit in a Little Tikes car.
Except this model isn’t plastic or fun-sized. For sale on eBay, this functioning red and yellow replica of the toy car is one-of-a-kind, and currently going for just over $33,000 (£21,500) from Bicester, England.
Building the car cost John Bitmead about $6,000 (£4,000), the BBC reported soon after its completion. Perhaps the car’s fame increased its resale value; the eBay listing explains how that BBC coverage went viral:
More than just a novelty, the listing claims the big Little Tikes can drive up to 70 mph, has a manual transmission, and has “covered over 5,000 miles in the past two years driving around shows and charity events in the UK.”
The special used car also comes with a guarantee: “to create smiles wherever it goes”.
