Vin Diesel’s latest flick The Last Witch Hunter hits theaters Oct. 23. The film is about an 800-year-old immortal witch slayer, and now fans can listen to a song from its soundtrack, Ciara’s predictably spooky take on the Rolling Stones’ classic cut “Paint It Black.”
“It was actually a surprise for me when I got the call from Universal Publishing and Lionsgate,” Ciara told Rolling Stone in an interview announcing the cover. “I had never thought to cover this song. It was never on my radar to cover it, but when the opportunity came along, I was very thrilled. … I feel like it pushes the edge and the limit for me, in reference to what people probably expect from me.”
Earlier this year, Ciara released Jackie, her first album since 2013. Check out her “Paint It Black” cover below, and head over to Rolling Stone for Ciara’s full interview.
