Here Is the Gourmet Cheetos Pizza of Your Dreams

People who look forward to the snacks more than the actual football games themselves should feast their eyes on this pizza topped with Cheetos, available Sundays at the bar Slate in Manhattan. Dubbed the “Four Play Mac & Cheese” pizza, the personal pie boasts Béchamel sauce, cavatappi pasta, a “signature cheese blend” (white cheddar, parmesan, mozzarella, smoked gouda), ground-up Cheetos and whole Cheetos as a garnish.

Darryl Harmon, the 38-year-old creator of this artery-clogging meal, created the dish as a tribute to the comfort foods he ate while watching football on Sundays with his family at his childhood home in South Jersey: takeout pizza, mac ‘n’ cheese (made by his mother) and Cheetos.

But this is not the first time he has made a meal with the junk food. “Cheetos is a great accompaniment to any dish,” Harmon says. “I’ve encrusted a steak with them, made a broccoli soup with Cheetos as a garnish, or you can ground them up with olive oil to make bread crumbs.”

Other highly-caloric appetizers that Harmon is serving up on Sundays include Philly cheesesteak-stuffed beignets and Doritos nachos. You can find the full football-themed menu on Slate’s website.
