Dave Grohl Invites Crying Fan Onstage at Foo Fighters Show

Dave Grohl may have broken his leg earlier this summer, but that hasn’t kept him from the stage—or from packing Foo Fighters concerts with memorable moments all season long. The rocker’s latest heartwarming turn came Sunday night at Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre in Englewood, Colorado, when he invited a crying fan to join him during an acoustic rendition of “My Hero.”

Grohl seemed ready to give a boilerplate speech comparing the towns he tours in to one another, but paused when saw the man, who later said his name was Anthony, in the crowd crying. “Don’t cry, motherf—er, I know you’re drunk… don’t cry,” said Grohl, then urging the audience to help Anthony get closer to the stage. “I’m gonna sing this f–king song right in your face, man to man, prison style, I’m going man to man. I want some real tears, you better sing it with me… I’m going to sing this to your crying grown-man ass.”

After belting out the song’s chorus with Anthony into the microphone, Grohl summed up the moment to the crowd: “That’s great thing about a Foo Fighters show. You never know what you’re going to get.”
