The All-Female Ghostbusters Cast Surprised Young Patients at a Boston Hospital

2 minute read

Kids at the Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center in Boston knew the Ghostbusters reboot was filming nearby, and recently put up a sign in one of the widows asking, “Who ya gonna call?”

And the film’s stars answered!

Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon and Melissa McCarthy, who all star in the film, headed to TMC on Saturday to surprise the young patients – dressed entirely in costume.

McCarthy and gang had been filming nearby in Chinatown and the neighboring Theater District, and said they saw the sign and wanted to come make sure the kids didn’t need any help with ghosts.

Sporting their proton packs, ghost traps and various other ghostbusting gear, the ladies headed room to room to meet and greet eager fans, including children of all ages and their families.

“They were a true delight to have today,” Brooke Hynes, vice president of public affairs and communications for Tufts Medical Center, told PEOPLE. “They were so kind to all the kids and their parents. They took their time in each room visiting children as young as a few months to teens.”

“We cannot thank them enough for the happiness and excitement they created.”

The ladies even checked under a number of beds and scanned some children, just to be sure there were no ghosts around.

Wiig was photographed cradling an infant, while one patient who couldn’t have visitors in her room still wanted a photo with the ladies, so the gals obliged by posing outside the room and fitting her in the shot.

The visit brought big smiles to the faces of the Tufts patients, the hospital said.

This past week, the Ghostbusters crew has been filming at the Citi Wang Theatre in downtown Boston. Fans have flooded the area in the hopes of being cast as extras in the film, which is shooting a scene that takes place at a metal concert.

McCarthy has also been spotted out on town on several occasions, including on a date with her husband Ben Falcone, and having family time with her two daughters.
