This summer, America will watch as 12 women compete to win Prince Harry’s ginger heart as a part of a new Fox reality dating show. If that sentence seems suspect, that’s because it’s a total lie. Rather, Fox and evil genius Ryan Seacrest are producing a show in which 12 women are tricked into thinking that they’re vying for Prince Harry’s heart — when they’re really trying to woo a sloppy Prince Harry impersonator with a poor dye job. It’s next generation Joe Millionaire, but slightly more depressing (or incredible, depending on where you fall on the reality TV appreciation spectrum). It’s awe-inspiring to think that a Royal-groupie would fall for the rouse — because, let’s face it, if the Queen has a problem with Kate Middleton’s skirt length, she wouldn’t be cool with Harry finding love on TV. (Or at the very least, she’d make him go to the BBC, at least for solidarity’s sake.) The description for I Wanna Marry Harry, which airs May 27, is as follows:
“An average English ‘bloke’ is given the royal treatment and an upper crust makeover before meeting 12 single American women searching for Prince Charming. Will he be able to convince them he’s regal? And if he does, will they fall for the crown, or fall in love with the real him?”
