Lady Gaga helped get the 2015 European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan, off to a great start by performing a gorgeous, operatic rendition of Jon Lennon’s 1971 song “Imagine.”

The _ARTPOP_ singer managed to bring the massive crowd to a calm hush from her perch behind a flower-adorned piano. She starts off staying true to the original, singing soft and low, before moving into a powerful, bellowing climax.

“What an honor to have a few moments with the world watching,” Gaga [tweeted](https://twitter.com/ladygaga/status/609402371576303617). “Could you imagine. What would you say?”

[00:01] Lady Gaga is opening up about a struggle with
[00:03] marijuana addiction. During a radio interview with New
[00:06] York Z100 the 27- year- old pop star admitted she
[00:09] once smoked as many as 15 to 20 marijuana
[00:12] cigarettes a day. I actually decided to speak about this
[00:16] because although I do think it is the best of the drugs
[00:19] to choose from in terms of, you know, when you're
[00:22] playing, playing around and experimenting. I just want
[00:26] young kids to know that you actually can become
[00:28] addicted to it. Gaga says she was self- medicating for
[00:31] anxiety and pain management after a hip injury. She
[00:34] has vowed to fight her addiction.
