Listen to Carly Rae Jepsen Get ‘Emotion’-al on Her New Song

1 minute read

First she wanted you to call her (maybe). Then she admitted that she really, really, really, really, really, really likes you. Now Carly Rae Jepsen is ready to get emotional. Though the singer has yet to announce a U.S. release date for her third album, a new track became available to listeners in Japan who pre-ordered EMOTION on iTunes Japan.

The album’s title track, which follows the singles “I Really Like You” and “All That,” sticks with the bouncing synth-pop formula that’s worked so well for Jepsen in the past. With a chorus that’s ever-so-faintly reminiscent of Jennifer Lopez’s “Waiting for Tonight,” the song gradually develops from an innocent “crushing hard” vibe into the realm of more mature, desirous fantasy.

Listen to “Emotion” on Sift-Thru and check out the album’s track list, released by Jepsen on June 2:
