[Caitlyn Jenner might be a Republican](http://www.cnn.com/2015/04/25/politics/bruce-jenner-diane-sawyer-transgender-lgbt-republican-conservative/), but not even partisan politics could stop President Barack Obama from praising the former Olympian [after her _Vanity Fair_ cover debuted on Monday](http://www.ew.com/article/2015/06/01/caitlyn-jenner-vanity-fair-cover).

“It takes courage to share your story,” [the @BarackObama Twitter account posted](https://twitter.com/BarackObama/status/605487361011544065) in response to Jenner’s second-ever tweet. Obama, who has a personal account at @POTUS, had been the record-holder for fastest to reach 1 million Twitter followers [before Jenner bested the president on Monday](http://www.ew.com/article/2015/06/01/caitlyn-jenner-twitter-record).

In addition to the praise, Obama also directed people to share their own stories in the fight for LGBT rights [at the Organizing for Action website](https://twitter.com/BarackObama/status/605488230666862592).
