Ryan Reynolds Helps a Young Cancer Patient Meet Deadpool

1 minute read

A young cancer patient got to meet the anti-hero Deadpool—as played by Ryan Reynolds—thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The foundation sent Tony Acevedo, who suffers from Hodgkin Disease, a type of lymphoma, up to the Vancouver set where Reynolds is filming Deadpool, the movie based on the Marvel comic book due out in 2016.

As Reynolds wrote on Instagram, “I wasn’t expecting him to sneak the mask, put on the gloves, smile… and then beat Deadpool about the face, arms and jugular with blazing speed.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a Make-A-Wish spokesperson said Acevedo wanted to meet this particular fictional character because “Deadpool never dies.”
