King, died in Las Vegas on Thursday at the age of 89, according to the Associated Press, citing King’s lawyer. The leading bluesman of his generation sold millions of albums over the course of his phenomenal career and was an inductee in both the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. [00:06] King was recently rushed to the hospital after suffering [00:09] from a diabetes related emergency. The singer has [00:12] been battling the condition for over 20 years. Born [00:15] Riley B King in 1925. King left work on a plantation [00:20] to pursue a music career in Memphis. According to [00:23] King's website the singer's first big break came in [00:26] 1948 when he performed on Sonny Boy Williamson's [00:29] radio program. King soon decided he needed a unique [00:32] stage name. He started out as the Beale Street Blues [00:35] Boy. The name went through several revisions, and he [00:38] ended up being called B. B. King. Throughout his [00:40] career, King released 43 studio albums. King is also [00:45] the only performer to have won a Fifteen Grammy [00:48] Awards in the blues genre. The King of Blues was also [00:51] inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the [00:53] Blues Foundation Hall of Fame in the 1980s. He was [00:56] even included in Rolling Stones 100 Greatest Guitars of [01:00] all time ranking at number six. The Publication called [01:04] him a genuine soloist.
