October 31, 2011. Barges laden with stolen oil are stationed along the Imo Rivers at Abia state, Nigeria. In a raid along Imo River, the military reported seizing 30 barges with unspecified quantities of crude and illegally refined oil. Thieves often sabotage pipelines in order to gain access to crude, resulting in oil spills.
