Adventure filmmaker Alison Teal grew up all over the world, following her photographer parents on excursions to some of the most remote places on the planet.

Now an adult, Alison combines storytelling with her love of exploration to create the “[Alison’s Adventures](http://www.alisonsadventures.com)” film series. She styles herself as a “female Indiana Jones,” traveling the globe with her pink surfboard and sharing stories of survival and sustainability in the hopes of educating and inspiring people around the world.

## Transcript

[ MUSIC ] My advice for someone who wants to travel and wants to adventure is go. Do anything possible to go. Aloha my name is Allison Teal, I wear many coconut hats. I'm a filmmaker. I'm a survivalist. I'm an adventurer, an explorer, and a surfer. At two weeks old, my adventure photographer parents whisked me up the highest peak in southern Peru. And since then, my life has been this wild whirlwind of adventure. I was sort of that Tarzan child raised around the world in all the remote. In exotic corners of this earth. You know, I'd be on a camel safari across the Rajasthan Desert, then I'd wake up in a dug out canoe in the Amazon in the, you know, search for pink dolphins.

As I grew older, I wanted a way to share the secrets and mystery and intrigue of all these cultures that I grew up in. So I became an adventure filmmaker and started my own series, Alison's Adventures. [ MUSIC ] I team up with a local companion. Whether it's a wild cowboy in New Zealand or a surf coach in Peru. And then they take me through their world. And through this fun story, you get to learn something about the environment. A humanitarian aspect. For example, the film in the Maldives that I just did brings awareness to our global plastic. Pollution issue. Plastic waste can be recycled into reusable items, like my bikini.

I believe that if we can learn to live sustainably within this Earth, we can preserve it for our future generations. I'm doing my best, through these really fun, exciting Indiana Jones films to share messages of survival of sustainability, and to. Help to keep the environment around for everybody to explore. People often how can you afford to travel so much. And I'm not well how can I afford not to travel? [ LAUGH ] My parents always say you should live life like you're living off a trust fund. You need to trust that the funds are gonna be there. There's real inspirational characters out there, and I can bring those wonderful people with all this knowledge back to kids and families across the U.

S. It's amazing. It's magic. It just, it, it makes your soul just sing.
