The two frontrunners in New Hampshire’s crucial Republican presidential primary were at each other’s footsteps this weekend.
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush trailed each other around the Granite State, playing a game of social media one-upmanship as they tweeted photos of their travels.
In recent polls of the first-in-the-nation primary state, Walker and Bush have traded the first-place spot, adding to the sub rosa rivalry as they made their maiden trips to the crucial first-in-the-nation primary state. It was Walker’s first visit in three years and Bush’s first in nearly 15.
The pair spent much of the weekend greeting locals, meeting privately with politicians and chatting with local media. While the rivals and their staffs traded a few barbs, the competition seemed especially heated on Twitter, where the candidates and their aides posted snapshots and shout-outs to locals.
Despite nearly identical itineraries, according to aides, they never bumped into each other.
