Where once he talked foreign policy, now he’ll talk Kindles – former White House Press Secretary Jay Carney has taken a high level job with Amazon.
Carney will leave his post at CNN, where he is a commentator, and begin with Amazon on Monday as senior vice president for Worldwide Corporate Affairs, Politico reports. Carney will split his time between the D.C. office and the company’s Seattle headquarters, and he will report directly to Jeff Bezos.
He’s not the only former Obama confidante to head to Silicon Valley. In 2014, former campaign manager and White House adviser David Plouffe became the senior vice president of policy and strategy at Uber.
