Martin’s _The Winds of Winter_, the long-awaited sixth novel in his ‘_A Song of Ice and Fire_‘ saga that inspired the HBO series _Game of Thrones_, will not be published in 2015, his publisher [told](http://www.theguardian.com/books/2015/jan/30/george-rr-martin-the-winds-of-winter-publication) _The Guardian_ on Friday. Jane Johnson said HarperCollins would instead be publishing a new illustrated compilation of three official prequel novellas to the series, _The Hedge Knight, The Sworn Sword_ and _The Mystery Knight._ “The short novels have been previously published in separate anthologies but never put together before, and this will be a particularly beautiful edition,” Johnson told _The_ _Guardian._ But she added that she had no information on a possible publication date for _The Winds of Winter_, which fans have been eagerly awaiting since Martin published the bestselling _A Dance with Dragons_ in 2011. In December Martin posted on his website to suppress speculation over the book’s release. He wrote: “I’ve said before, and I will say again, I don’t play games with news about the books. I know how many people are waiting, how long they have been waiting, how anxious they are. I am still working on _Winds_. I've read Game of Thrones for years and years. I've been a huge fan of the series. And then when Minecraft came around, you know, who hasn't wanted to build an awesome medieval castle in Minecraft? Then finally like one day, I was like, oh I should build all the Game of Thrones castles. Westeros, in the books, is about the size of South America, as stated by the author. Westeros in Minecraft, we have used measuring tools with our map programs, and we figured it out, our entire continent is 1 100th the size of South America, so we're at a 1 100th scale. My name is Jacob Granbury, aka Pizza in a Cup, my online moniker. [ SOUND ]. I am the lead project Creator at WesterosCraft, which is a Minecraft server dedicated to creating the world from Game of Thrones. When people come onto WesterosCraft the devil is in the details. So here we're going on a tour of, one of the most iconic places in all of Game of Thrones the red keep. Everything we do is built brick by brick. These intricate curves that go in the ceiling, someone had to plan this out perfectly because it's gotta line up in the middle. There's got to be thousands and thousands of man hours total. It's very magnificent, very beautiful. We're definitely super proud of the throw moon. It, it's probably unfathomable how many just hours have been put into WesterosCraft. And, you know, it's not all strictly based off the TV show. We kinda you know, use our own imaginations to make details. I think with WesterosCraft we just coincidentally kinda hit Minecraft and Game of Thrones. Which have huge fan bases and when you combine that it gets crazy. [ SOUND ]. At first there was just a few people but once we kind of posted what we were doing on social media sites, like Reddit. We got a huge following, and that kinda steam rolled into kind of what we are today which is you know, a big giant community, big web site, YouTube videos, etcetera. [ MUSIC ] I love game of thrones in the series, having it almost daily in my life in Minecraft. It's, it's kind of unreal. I've been called a virgin, I don't know how many times on the internet, it's got to be in the thousands now. [ LAUGH ] You know I have a full time job I have a second job, me and my wife own a business. All right, this is our humble abode. That's my wife Jenny and you know, WesterosCraft is a big hobby, and I love doing it. And I'm getting so many, so many Facebook likes. I definitely want George R Martin to know about it. I know for sure some of the stars of the TV show know about it, but, you know, if the author himself. Would look at it and even say online you know, hey, that's pretty cool.
