Underdogs are aplenty in Hollywood, where a number of famous actors who have never won an Oscar despite having been nominated for Academy Awards multiple times have yet to capture the coveted honor.

It’s almost time for the 91st Academy Awards where many eyes will be on the beloved Glenn Close is again up for the best actress accolade for her acclaimed performance as Joan in The Wife. She holds the record as the actor with the most winless Oscar nominee who left leaving empty handed six times since 1982.And she’s just one of many great actors who have never won an Oscar.

She goes up against Melissa McCarthy, (Can You Ever Forgive Me?) Olivia Colman (The Favourite), Yalitza Aparicio (Roma).

Also of note is seven-time Oscar nominee Amy Adams who nabbed a best supporting actress Oscar nomination for starring as Lynne Cheney, Dick Cheney’s wife. This could be her first win after leaving sans statue six times, while pop culture favorites like Bill Murray and Samuel L. Jackson have garnered a nomination each, but no statue.
