[00:00] >>You're the special, and the prophecy states that [00:03] you're the most important person in the universe. [00:06] That's you, right? [00:07] >>Uh, [00:16] yes! That's me. [00:22] >>So, this is Emmet. We spent a long time working on [00:25] Emmet being the lead character in this film. We went [00:27] through quite a-- quite a few different iterations on [00:29] this hair, but we finally settled on this one. As [00:34] you can see, we try to be quite authentic with the [00:36] actual Lego product itself. So, there's a little detail [00:41] put into the sticker work, the detail work, the mold [00:44] lines, chips, chunks, scratches. We [00:48] try to incorporate a lot of that. In fact, we put a lot of [00:50] the mini figs underneath the microscope and have a [00:53] good look at those details so that we could actually get [00:56] a lot of the fidelity into our models. This represents the [00:59] storyboard phase of the film. Basically, you do rough [01:02] pass of drawing the script by hand and it's the first [01:05] that we do when we're testing out an idea. And [01:15] after that, once it gets approved, it goes through a [01:19] process, which is called layout, where you kind of [01:23] roughly put the characters and the cameras into the [01:26] scene. That's [01:34] pretty neat. And then after layout, once you've locked [01:38] your cameras in your sets and your characters in, you [01:41] get to animate it. And [01:48] then at last after you're done with the animation, the [01:52] lighting and grading team comes in and they make it [01:55] look really pretty and this is what that looks like. [02:05] >>Essentially what you're doing is encoding the bricks [02:07] and snapping them together just like real Lego. And [02:11] also just like real Lego, the bricks will refuse [02:13] connections that can't be made in real life. [02:16] >>Metal Beard is an interesting character for a [02:20] number of reasons. Firstly, he's so much bigger than [02:22] all the other characters. He's got a lot of cool [02:26] accessories, which I have a lot of fun with. It's got a [02:28] shock on his arm. He's got a cannon on his other arm [02:32] and it kinda plays into the fact that is slightly kind of [02:35] unintentionally intimidating character. [02:38] >>Good morning, apartment! [02:45] >>This is kind of the animation review format so [02:48] obviously it doesn't have any lighting or anything like [02:51] that, but it does show kind of the face and it shows [02:54] various [ unk ] pieces.
