In a video that will make everyone coveting an iPhone 6 cry a little bit, Ukrainian YouTube celebrity TechRax drops a supposedly “brand new” one into a pan of boiling Coca-Cola.

While you will not hear the voice of Siri crying out for help in this clip, you will see a fair amount of the phone’s material slowly melt away.

“The results made my house smell like smoke for 2 hours,” the tech blogger [writes](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TeFMtmUAFRo) in the stunt’s description on YouTube. “I would NOT recommend trying this at home.”

The footage has racked up more than 1.8\. million YouTube views so far since it was uploaded a couple of weeks ago. [Turns out](https://www.youtube.com/user/TechRax/videos) this mad scientist-type blogger has also baked an iPhone 6 inside a turkey for four hours and drilled a hole into one with a power tool.

Although, we could see parents using this video as a threat to sons and daughters who will not stop texting during family meals over the holidays.

## Transcript

[00:00] For a company that's made a lot of money by selling
[00:01] the concept of simplicity, Apple's holiday lineup
[00:03] features an almost overwhelming number of gadgets.
[00:06] Here's a look at the main product lines, along with
[00:08] some buying advice for each category. Starting off with
[00:10] the newly announced iPads, you now have five iPad
[00:13] models to choose from. Starting prices range from
[00:15] $ 249 to $ 449. The iPad Air 2 is slightly thinner and
[00:19] slightly lighter than the original iPad Air. There's a
[00:21] souped up iPhone 6 and six plus processor onboard,
[00:24] too, called the A8X which Apple says is 40 % faster
[00:27] than previous efforts, but battery life remains ten
[00:29] hours across the entire iPad line, although the rear
[00:31] camera on the iPad Air 2 has been bumped from five
[00:32] to eight megapixels so you can capture time lapse and
[00:35] slow motion video. Videos. The front camera's been
[00:38] improved as well. And wireless connections have been
[00:40] bolstered to provide faster data access. The newest
[00:42] iPad Air rounds things up by adding the TouchID
[00:44] fingerprint sensor that debuted with iPhone 5S. You
[00:46] can unlock the tablet and long into apps and sites
[00:48] without typing passcode. It be available in gold, silver
[00:51] and grey. And there's a new 128 gigabyte storage
[00:53] option available starting at [ INAUDIBLE ] 99. Late
[00:56] November 2013's iPad Air is sticking around, though.
[00:58] This time with a $ 399 starting price, down from
[01:01] $ 499. This is still a more than fine full size iPad.
[01:04] Spending the extra $ 100 on the iPad Air 2 gives you
[01:06] something marginally thinner and marginally lighter,
[01:09] with a better rear- facing camera, the fingerprint
[01:11] sensor, and a beefed- up processor. If none of these
[01:13] are super important to you, the iPad Air is now a
[01:15] comparatively good deal. Now, the new iPad mini 3 is
[01:18] almost pound for pound a shrunken down iPad Air. All
[01:21] the way down to the $ 399 starting price. You do get
[01:24] the fingerprint sensors, so there's that. Also there's a
[01:26] 128 gigabyte option. The iPad Air tops out at 32
[01:29] gigabytes. It's smaller and lighter too, of course,
[01:32] although not thinner with a starting. Weight of 0. 73
[01:34] pounds, so if you're interested in a small iPad, the iPad
[01:38] mini 2 now looks like a really good bet actually. It's
[01:41] very similar to the iPad mini 3 but doesn't feature the
[01:44] gold- colored option, the 128 gigabyte storage option
[01:46] or the fingerprint reader. Just about everything else is
[01:49] there, minus a $ 100 off the starting price. The
[01:52] original iPad mini. Many are sticking around, as well,
[01:55] with a starting price of $ 249. If ever you were to try to
[01:58] scrounge up an extra $ 50, this is the time to do it.
[02:01] Stepping up to iPad mini 2 gets you a much better
[02:03] screen and a much better processor. If the price of the
[02:06] original iPad mini was now $ 199, it would be a much
[02:09] harder decision. This thing's already two- years- old.
[02:13] << As for Iphones you have four models to choose
[02:15] from, running the price gamut from Free with a two
[02:17] year contract to 499 with a two year contract. The
[02:20] Iphone 6 plus features a 5. 5inch screen and straddles
[02:22] a tablet phonecasm g / with a starting price of 299
[02:25] with a two year contract. Now going this big and
[02:27] expensive gets you a higher resolution Resolution
[02:29] screen in the iPhone 6, optical image stabilization
[02:31] when you're taking photos and longer battery life. But
[02:34] it's the iPhone 6 that's Apple's flagship phone until
[02:36] further notice. It goes for a not too big, not too small
[02:39] 4. 7 inch screen and like all phones, an extra $ 100
[02:42] for each trim line will get you more storage, though our
[02:44] previous lines double the storage for every $ 100 you
[02:46] spend. The six and six plus both jump you from six
[02:49] gigabytes. To 64 gigabytes this time around. Now last
[02:52] year's flagship model the iPhone 5s sports a four inch
[02:55] screen, fingerprint sensor, decent processor and eight
[02:57] to ten of continuous use battery life. Starting at 99
[03:00] bucks it's still a fine phone with a fine camera and a
[03:02] 32 gigabyte storage option that only costs an extra
[03:05] $ 50. On the low end the iPhone 5c is free with a two
[03:07] year contract, comes in five colors, and is available
[03:10] with eight gigabytes. Of storage. For all intensive
[03:12] purposes this is a late 2012 iPhone 5 gussied up and
[03:15] rereleased in late 2013. An $ 100 gets your more
[03:18] processing power and double the storage in an iPhone
[03:20] 5s. But if you don't care about that and you don't care
[03:23] about the fingerprint reader this one's a solid choice as
[03:24] a free phone. To get more information as well as
[03:27] additional analysis [ UNKNOWN ] Of Apple's computer
[03:29] iPod and Apple TV lines head over to time. com and
