Watch a Supercut of Every Onscreen Death in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy

1 minute read

If you haven’t watched the movie adaptations of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings trilogy, this supercut by Digg will save you a lot of time. Without giving away too many plot details, it’s safe to say that a lot of people die in these movies — 212,470, according to Digg’s estimate. They die by arrows and swords, fire and water, elephants, stampedes and winged creatures. The barrage of mostly faceless deaths is accompanied by a ticker in the corner of the screen, calculating the toll as it rises.

Digg has a penchant for death supercuts. Its compilation of deaths from the Star Wars trilogy featured more in the way of lasers and explosions, and proved ten times deadlier than the battles on Middle-earth. If guns and samurai swords are more your kind of thing, try this supercut of every death scene from Quentin Tarantino’s films, compiled by Sploid. Or you could just watch the trailer for the next Pixar movie, in which no one dies.
