More than 8,300 total cases have been confirmed. The new statistics, which include deaths in five West African countries as well as the United States and Spain, come just days after the death of the first patient to be diagnosed in the U.S. The current Ebola outbreak is the worst in history. Numbers released last month warned that under worst-case-scenario circumstances, as many as 1.4 million people may be infected with Ebola by the end of January.
