Genius, yes, but what about the people who want to enjoy special pizza without having to leave their homes? What about them? This is where frozen weed-laced pizzas come in. Los Angeles-based company Stoned Oven Gourmet Medibles is now peddling what it calls Stoned Oven Gourmet Pizzas, _LA Weekly_ [reports](http://www.laweekly.com/westcoastsound/2014/09/10/marijuana-pizza-has-arrived-in-la). Started by 24-year-old “ganja entrepreneur” Henry Mark, the company sells these six-inch personal pizzas — which contain 250 mg of ethanol-extracted THC — to dispensaries scattered around LA for $10 each. “You cannot taste one bit of marijuana in there,” Mark tells _LA Weekly._ “This pizza is really dangerous, because you can trick anyone!” (We do not recommend using these pizzas to trick anyone.) Mark’s advice is to eat a quarter of the pizza, drink some water, wait for a half hour and then assess the situation. Might be a good idea to have some marijuana-free frozen pizzas on hand too, so you can tend to your munchies without getting even higher. Your call. ## Transcript [00:03] Berkeley, long ago, submitted its reputation for being [00:06] one of the most liberal cities in America. That one for [00:09] you. Today it's certainly living up to that image by [00:11] giving away free marijuana to the poor, in what [00:15] appears to be the first of its kind ordinance [00:17] nationwide. Berkeley will require that its medical [00:20] marijuana dispensaries, provide provide free cannabis [00:23] to low income residents, which would also include the [00:27] homeless. Is it a good idea to give free [00:31] cannabis to the homeless? When you count it that way, [00:34] it sounds you know, peculiar but we're talking free [00:37] medicine. This is medical cannabis, cannabis that is [00:40] used to relieve pain for glaucoma and heart [00:44] problems and things of that nature, so I think it is a [00:46] good idea. Darrell Moore and the entire city Council [00:49] voted in favor of the measure. Part of a 20 page [00:52] ordinance to amend the municipal code. It says at least [00:55] 2 % of a dispensaries marijuana should be given to the [00:58] indigent. You still must have a medical marijuana ID [01:01] card or referral from a doctor. But even here in [01:05] Berkeley, where we placed an open mic, some worry [01:08] the new ordinance will lead to abuse. Berkeley already [01:11] has a terrible homeless problem, it's just going to [01:13] attract more homeless people to the area. I volunteer [01:15] here at the local rehab clinic. And I think its really [01:18] gonna increase the number of drug problems that [01:21] myself and my colleague see on a regular basis. Low [01:25] income here is defined as making less than $ 32, 000 [01:28] a year for an individual, and less than $ 46, 000 for a [01:32] family of four. And this will open a doorway for people [01:35] to just get marijuana and sell it. And [01:39] as opposed to using it themselves for medicinal [01:41] purposes. But advocates say this measure is all about [01:45] compassion, by providing medicine to those who can't [01:48] easily afford it. You might think that a business would [01:51] be opposed to having to give away their product for [01:53] free. But here in Berkeley with their medical marijuana [01:57] dispensaries, that is not the case and in fact one of [01:59] them, The Berkeley Patient's Group where I am, has [02:03] already been doing it for years. We realize that it's [02:06] very difficult for those who are severely ill to keep their [02:10] employment and maintain their income at a steady [02:12] pace for them to be able to purchase their medicine. [02:15] 10, 15. The medicine can get expensive. Frequent [02:18] users can easily spend hundreds of dollars or more [02:21] each month. The dispensary says, its been giving free [02:24] weed to about 200 of its customers. And the city will [02:28] even require the free marijuana be the same quality [02:32] on average, that is dispensed to other members.
