Coors Light Canada had to end a scavenger hunt earlier than expected after a box attached to a railing near one of Toronto’s busiest intersections sparked a police investigation and traffic jam because it looked like a suspicious package just after 5:00 p.m. on Monday, July 7, Global News and CTV News report.
The Toronto Transit Commission tweeted that the situation was “all clear” around 7:15 p.m.
The stunt, dubbed “#searchandrescue,” was designed for consumers to find boxes containing prizes. On Twitter, the brand apologized for any inconvenience commuters may have experienced and announced the promotion was over:
