Walter White Could Make an Appearance on Better Call Saul

2 minute read

The producers of AMC’s Better Call Saul could yet bring Walter White back — even for just a brief time.

The upcoming show is a spin-off of Breaking Bad, about the unorthodox lawyer Saul Goodman (played by Bob Odenkirk) who aided the meth kingpin White (played by Bryan Cranston) in the original series. Though the series was originally thought to be a prequel to Breaking Bad, it seems that the creators have decided to have fun with the timeline. Executive producer Peter Gould told the New York Daily News that the new show will jump back and forth in time and will include scenes from the setting of Breaking Bad, where White sold crystal meth.

“One of the great things about having a time line which is flexible is that perhaps some of it takes place before Breaking Bad, during Breaking Bad, and after Breaking Bad‘. That gives us the ability to bring back characters that were killed on Breaking Bad,” said Gould.

Yet Gould also told the Daily News that cameos of Breaking Bad characters wouldn’t necessarily determine the direction of the new series, adding “[w]e want to make a show that stands on it own, is its own story and is a brand extension.”

With or without Walter White, AMC executives certainly seems confident in Saul‘s prospects: they’ve already ordered a second season.
