Beyoncé Tops Forbes’ Celebrity 100 List

Queen B’s reign over the entertainment industry remains unchallenged.

Beyoncé has climbed to the number 1 position on Forbes’ new Celebrity 100 list unveiled Monday, pushing down Oprah Winfrey, last year’s champ, to the fourth place. On the current list, Bey is followed by LeBron James, Dr. Dre, Oprah and Ellen DeGeneres.

Forbes compiles the list by aggregating factors such as nominees’ yearly earnings, presence on social media, and the number of times they were mentioned in print, on TV or on the radio. For the first time this year, the magazine also took into consideration each celebrity’s “impact ranking”— a number that designates the “degree of impact each celebrity has had on the entertainment industry and our culture overall during the prior year.” The time frame for this year’s list was June 1, 2013 through June 1, 2014.

Beyonce, whose estimated income is $115 million, played 95 shows last year, amassing an average of $2.4 million per performance. Forbes also singled out the resounding success of Queen B’s new album, Beyoncé, which the singer dropped on iTunes last December with almost no publicity. She was ranked fourth on last year’s list.

Beyonce’s husband Jay-Z, her partner in the ongoing On the Run tour, has been awarded 6th place on the list; he is followed by Floyd Mayweather, Rihanna, Katy Perry and Robert Downey, Jr., rounding out the top 10.
