Watch: How to Stay in Brazil During the World Cup for Cheap

With hotel rates in Brazil’s World Cup cities predictably sky-high, dedicated fans have found some less expensive means of shelter: camping by the side of the road.

CNN spoke to a group of eight Argentinian soccer fans who will be spending the month living in a van.

To stay within their $2,500 budget, they also cook their own food–a simple diet consisting of mostly spaghetti, rice, hotdogs and veggies, said one of the thrifty eight, Pablo Massan.

Other unconventional accommodations in Rio also include Favela hostels and “love hotels.”
