Thursday’s Google Doodle celebrates the kickoff of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The animated illustration features host country Brazil’s green and yellow color scheme and shows little armed and legged G, O, O, G, L, and E letters jumping up and down like excited fans.
Clicking on the Doodle brings curious Googlers to a landing page with FIFA information, including game schedules, the official World Cup site and relevant news surrounding the games.
Many other Internet companies have incorporated World Cup information on their platforms. Twitter, which anticipates that the World Cup will be the most tweeted about event ever, links the #worldcup hashtag to a landing page with schedules, updated scores, related tweets and teams’ Twitter accounts. Facebook is sharing the latest goals, matches, and stories on Trending World Cup.
