Bergdahl in Stable Condition And on ‘Path to Complete Recovery’

1 minute read

U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is in stable condition and will remain hospitalized as he is treated for a number of conditions, the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany said Monday.

Bergdahl arrived at the center Sunday morning, one day after he was returned to U.S. custody following nearly five years of Taliban captivity in Afghanistan. The hospital’s statement did not elaborate on his medical treatments but mentioned his dietary and nutritional needs were among the health needs receiving attention.

“The goal is to return him to family and society and on the path to complete recovery,” the medical center said. “There is no pre-determined amount of time involved in the reintegration process.”

Once his medical care program in Germany is completed, Bergdahl will be transferred to the U.S. for continued care.
