Amazon Green Lights Shows by Rushmore Star and X-Files Creator

1 minute read

Amazon Studios has ordered four new series after considering ten pilots for the past few months, according to Variety. The streaming service will add two dramas and two comedies to its lineup.

Written and directed by Chris Carter of The X-Files fame, The After will follow eight strangers who must work together to survive in a violent world. The other drama, Bosch, is based on Michael Connelly’s Harry Bosch series.

Jason Schwartzman, who had his breakout role in the 1998 Wes Anderson film Rushmore, also got Amazon’s blessing for his dramedy that follows the behind-the-scenes drama at a symphony. He penned his series, Mozart in the Jungle, with Roman Coppola and Alex Timbers. Schwartzman and Coppola have worked together as a writer-actor duo on several Wes Anderson-directed films, including Moonrise Kingdom and The Darjeeling Limited.

The fourth series, Transparent, is a dark comedy written and directed by Jill Soloway (Six Feet Under and United States of Tara).
