The NJ teenager who sued her parents for child support after she moved out of their house has returned home, her parents’ lawyers announced Wednesday.
Rachel Canning “has returned home and reunited with her parents and siblings,” her parents’ attorney Angelo Sarno said in a statement, according to NJ.com. “Her return home is not contingent on any financial and/or other considerations.”
Canning moved out of her parents’ house after they demanded she break up with a boyfriend and insisted on house rules and a curfew. In a lawsuit that made national headlines, she sued her parents for child support and school fees while living with a friend’s family, who fronted her legal fees. Last week, a judge refused Rachel’s request for an emergency order to require her parents to make the payments.
