Police Believe YouTube Video Tied to Shooting That Left 7 Dead

1 minute read

Police believe a video recently posted to YouTube is connected to a Santa Barbara, California drive-by shooting that left 7 people, including the attacker, dead on Friday. 7 others were injured in the shooting.

“We’re investigating [the video] as evidence that we believe is connected to this crime,” Santa Barbara County Sheriff Bill Brown said in a Saturday press conference.

However, police have not confirmed if the person who appears in the video, titled “Elliot Rodger’s Retribution,” is indeed a suspect in the incident, ABC News reports.

In the video, a young man promises that he will have “his revenge against humanity” after spending the past eight years living “an existence of loneliness, rejection and unfulfilled desires.”

“I’ve had to rot in loneliness,” he says. “It’s not fair. You girls have never been attracted to me. I don’t know why you girls aren’t attracted to me, but I will punish you all for it.”

Other videos posted to the account’s page include “Life is so unfair because girls dont want me [sic]” and “Dancing in the car, Elliot Rodger style.”
