Three years after the Foo Fighters released Wasting Light, the band confirmed that frontman Dave Grohl will direct and produce a series for HBO that chronicles the making of their eighth album, which was recorded at eight different studios around the country and is set to drop this fall.
According to a press release from HBO, the band recorded one song at each location — Chicago, Austin, Nashville, Los Angeles, Seattle, New Orleans, Washington, D.C. and New York — with a legendary local musician sitting in on each session. Grohl, the band’s frontman, also practiced an unusual methodology in creating the songs: “[he] held off on putting down words until the last day of each session in order to be inspired by the experiences, interviews and personalities that became part of the process.”
The Foo Fighters are also celebrating their 20th anniversary this year, so be sure to get them something nice if you’re planning on visiting.
