The World’s Fastest Texter Is, You Guessed It, a Teen

1 minute read

A teenager from Brazil has emerged as the world’s fastest texter and now holds the Guinness World Record for the fastest typing of a text message on a touch-screen mobile.

The teenager, 17-year-old Marcel Fernandes Filho, had to text the following sentences and get both the spelling and punctuation right: “The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human.”

He broke the record on a Samsung Galaxy S4 in New York City, and beating the previous world’s best of 18.44 seconds with an impressive 18.19 seconds, Guinness World Records reports.

Filho started perfecting his texting speed when he destroyed his computer in a fit of rage because the monitor was flickering. After that, he had to start using his iPhone for everything, CNET reports.
